Wispr Flow
The dictation app professionals actually use daily instead of typing. An honest account after 40 weeks of daily use, 396,620 words, and 46 apps.
The direct answer

I do not type on my phone anymore. Wispr Flow is why.

A colleague recommended it — Hermann Arnold. I started on the desktop app. It was already better than anything I had used. Then the Android app launched and everything shifted.

Before: voice-to-text was something you switched into and switched out of. A separate mode. A tool you opened. After Wispr Flow on mobile: speaking is just how I write. In any app. Any language. Any situation — including a café in Buenos Aires, a trail in Patagonia, a flight between continents.

I run ultras. I work from my phone. I am constantly moving between countries and contexts. The tools that survive that life are the ones that require zero friction. Wispr Flow has zero friction.

"The thought-to-digitization process changed so much. This is one very crucial part to make working fully from mobile possible."

What actually works

Four features that make it worth using every day.

How it fits the system

Voice is the bottleneck between thought and action.

I run my professional life from a phone. No laptop on trail. No desk between airports. Every instruction to my AI agent, every reply to a client, every essay draft — spoken first, then routed by the system.

The pipeline: thought → Wispr Flow → agent → action. Wispr Flow is the only step in that chain that requires nothing except my voice. No app to open, no mode to enter. I speak and the text appears, wherever I need it.

On days I am offline — no phone, no signal — I do not use it. Every other day, it runs from morning to night. 40 consecutive weeks. That continuity is the data. Not a test period. Not a tool I evaluated. A tool I would struggle to operate without.

"The only days I do not use it are complete offline days. Every single time I am on my phone I use it — because I do not type anything anymore."

Wispr Flow — Available on Desktop & Mobile

If you type on your phone daily for work, there is a good chance Wispr Flow changes how you work. The Android app is what made this fully possible for me.

Honest limits

What it does not solve.

Wispr Flow is a voice-to-text layer. It does not transcribe other people — only you. It does not work offline. And for deeply structured writing — tables, code, precise formatting — typing is still faster.

But for the majority of what I write in a day — messages, prompts, notes, draft paragraphs — voice is now faster than typing by a factor I stopped trying to measure. The habit forms quickly. After 40 weeks, the option to type feels like a downgrade.
